German Black Leather Flight Jacket (1970)
A german flight jacket made out of beautiful thick grain leather. This jacket features the same pattern as the ones Issued to German Air Force (Luftwaffe) pilots. However, this particular jacket was likely intended for civilian use (indicated by a lack of patches and non-military tag) and manufactured in black leather (as opposed to the ususal gray). Like its military counterpart, this unique jacket features a very sturdy leather construction with bright orange lining. Additionally, this flight jacket features thick ribbing, numerous velcro patches, chest and arm pockets, as well as arm ventilation.
It is also worth noting that Martin Margiela’s artisanal line featured a three different iterations of these jackets (in grey) cut and sewn together for FW2004. Helmut Lang also referenced these jackets in numerous collections.
