Maison Martin Margiela Elastic Pinstripe Trousers (Early 00s)
These are not your regular trousers. Made out of fine wool, these pants feature a very simple yet interesting design. The main feature of these pants is the elastic waist. The waist component of these trousers has been stripped down to the simplest possible object; an elastic. This elastic is very similar to that of underpants, and is reminiscent of the Balenciaga “Underwear Pants.” Also featuring two front pockets and a welt pocket at the back for functionality.
This mix of features result in a product that is formal but comfortable, and simple but interesting.
