WW2 Soviet Submarine Leather "Cyclops" Mask (1950s)

US$225.00
Sold

This very unusual mask comes from the Soviet Navy. These masks were issued to soldiers who had to work under harsh conditions in submarines or warships. This unique mask features a “face cover” that allows the wearer to have it up or down, depending on the weather conditions. Masks of similar construction were worn by Red Army pilots and motorcycle riders. Last picture includes a different version of a WW2 submarine hood (left) and a USN extreme cold weather mask (right). I believe this particular mask is post-WW2, likely made sometimes in the late 50’s.

Size: about 58cm-59cm circumference

Condition: Barely worn, slightly dirty from storage 9/10.

Colour: Black
